New Scout Headquarters - Update and Appeal
1ST CHUDLEIGH SCOUT GROUP APPEAL FOR NEW HEADQUARTERS
Chudleigh Scout Group is trying to raise funds to build their new Headquarters. We are currently operating in a 50 year old concrete shell that leaks, is crumbling and is too small for the 120 young people attending meetings each week. Youngsters aged between 6 and 18 years old meet over 4 different nights to learn skills that improve their self confidence, independence and team work. They are given focus and kept off the streets with adventurous activities challenging them mentally and physically. As they leave Scouting they go out into the world better equipped to be useful members of society. All this work is carried on by a team of dedicated VOLUNTEERS that ensure Chudleigh has some of the best scouting on offer in Teignbridge.
After many years of trying we have managed to secure an opportunity that will make a massive difference to the young Scouts. If we can raise £50,000, we have enough match funding to build a new Headquarters. This building will allow Scouting to continue in the town with bigger and better facilities enabling more young people to experience the fun and adventure that Scouting brings. We have only got a short period of time to raise this money. Currently we have raised over £30,000 but as the match funding is only available for a limited period, time is of the essence. .
We are fully aware that times are hard and this may not be the best time to ask but we have been given one chance and must try and make the best of it.
So we are asking local businesses if they could spare any money towards the cost of the project. It would be really great to think that even in these hard times businesses in the town could support this effort and secure scouting for another 100 years.
In return for your help, we will have a plaque commissioned detailing everyone that helped us, allowing the public to see how generous the local business community is. There will also be an opening party for all benefactors.
If you have any doubt about the urgency of this project look at the photos showing holes both on the outside and inside of the hut. Our young Scouts deserve better and we as leaders are desperate to give them better.
