Angela Holmes – Clay Door Studio
Clay Door Studio is nestled in the heart of Old Pottery Court in the centre of Chudleigh. Visitors to the courtyard will discover an array of outdoor sculptural pieces and a picturesque atmospheric studio.
Angela Holmes is a sculptor working primarily in stone and creating abstract tactile forms for home and garden. Although not directly figurative or representational, the pieces have a quiet presence and dignity; they explore different moods and qualities which address the imagination of the viewer. Sculptures can be purchased directly from the studio or can be commissioned to suit a specific setting or occasion.
Inside the studio, for those seeking a spontaneous gift or wanting simply to browse, there is a range of smaller works in diverse media including ceramics, fused glass and collagraph prints. There is also a limited collection of very unusual collages & ceramic works by the late Tony Wood who formally worked in this studio.
In this relaxed and informal atmosphere, Angela offers classes in creative ceramics for those wanting to explore there own creative potential and achieve their ideas from simple to sculptural, functional to fantastic. Currently classes run on Thursday mornings and Tuesday afternoons. Other clay sessions can be booked by arrangement for groups of any age or ability: families, children, study projects or social gatherings, as well as individual guidance in basic stone carving.
